The impact of the online #MeToo campaign and the ongoing revelations of harassment continue to be felt across the workplace. Against this backdrop and as part of Athena’s commitment to providing support and resources to women, our panelists will discuss the power dynamics of the workplace and how professional conduct has changed over the years.

Denise Pirotti Hummel
Founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Lead Inclusively, Inc.

Denise Pirrotti Hummel, J.D., is the Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Lead Inclusively, Inc., a firm devoted to the connection between inclusion and business performance. Ms. Hummel is a serial entrepreneur and CEO having grown, financed and sold several businesses, the latest of which was selling Universal Consensus, LLC, a cross-cultural firm, to Ernst & Young, LLP, where she became a Principal before exiting for her next adventure which is focused on marrying her entrepreneurial knowledge and spirit with her experience and connections in enterprise for a win-win that accelerates innovation in this global economy. She is a Board Member of the Healthcare Women’s Association and the Co-Chair of Athena’s Life Sciences Committee, as well as working with Tech Coast Angels and WITI to close the gender gap. Prior to that she practiced employment law and international M&A as an attorney. As a coach, her experience runs the gamut of helping CEO’s and founders of start-ups to prepare for Venture Capital and other sources of funding, helping CEO’s of new companies to scale, and helping the C-Suite and VP level leaders of enterprise to address their business challenges and milestones while incorporating authenticity, entrepreneurism and inclusiveness into their leadership style. Denise has led some of the most significant people integrations of the tech world and also focuses on the challenges faced by pharma and biotech as they enter a phase of fierce competition and crowded markets. She is a staunch advocate of women, helping them to navigate the nuances of standing out and fitting in at the senior levels of organizations and boards. She is a Ted Talk finalist and a member of Marshall Goldsmith’s legacy 100 coaches. She is also a Board Member of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) and the co-chair of Athena’s Life Sciences Special Interest Group (LSIG) Committee.

Maggie Osburn
EVP, General Manager, HUB International

Maggie Osburn is Executive Vice President, General Manager for HUB International, Inc. in San Diego. In this role, Maggie leads the strategic direction of the employee benefits division for San Diego. Her expertise as an advisor to HR enables her to effectively consult with San Diego’s major employers to help them develop insurance strategies that are aligned with their business, financial and human resources goals and objectives. Maggie Osburn is Executive Vice President, General Manager for HUB International, Inc. in San Diego. In this role, Maggie leads the strategic direction of the employee benefits division for San Diego.
