My favorite memory from my career in defense:
Volunteering alongside active and retired military personnel and their families to transform old parking lots into a community garden in a low-income neighborhood with good people and some of the best street tacos I’ve ever tasted.

Advice to other women working in defense:
Don’t be afraid to assert yourself. Overcoming a meek nature is critical to establishing your repertoire in the workplace. This is coming from a short, post-graduate new to the workplace, and it is incredible how quickly people pick up on hesitation. Stay firm and remember you are part of a valuable mission, you’ve earned a right to be here and it’s up to you to showcase that.

The most valuable thing about my membership with WID San Diego is:
Growing my professional network in a diverse group of women in one of the more diversified fields of work to help in my pursuit of higher education, promotion, and self-improvement. As a post-grad there is still a lot I need to be exposed to in the workplace and beyond, and this is a controlled venue to allow me to do so and aid my colleagues in the transition from the classroom to the office.
