When I’m not working you can find me:
Spending time with my family and friends or working on my masters degree
My favorite memory from my career in defense:
It is hard to choose because I had an adventurous career from traveling the icy land mine lined roads of Bosnia Herzegovina to cover various missions to swimming in the Indian Ocean and coming face to face with a shark. Joining the Navy was the best decision I ever made and I miss those adventures.
Advice to other women working in defense:
Working in defense has its own set of challenges. One of those challenges is upward mobility so it is important to be open minded about opportunities and to weigh your options when an opportunity you are interested in becomes available. Sometimes those opportunities are not in your field of expertise but may be a good fit for you and the department you would be supporting. If the opportunity offers you the chance to move up, don’t be afraid to step up.
The most valuable thing about my membership with WID San Diego is:
I am connected to some inspiring women who teach me something new every time I am around them.
