About WID San Diego.

MISSION
To cultivate and support the advancement and recognition of women in all aspects of national security

VISION
To be the organization for women working in the area of national security to learn from, inspire, and support each other
Our Story
The Women in Defense organization was founded in 1979 and became an affiliate of National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) in 2004. Today there are nearly 4,000 individual members, both men and women, with 20 chapters in key geographic locations across the United States.
Through the efforts of several women leaders, the San Diego chapter was established in 2005 to enable members of the San Diego defense community to participate locally in this unique organization.
Our goal is to work together to strengthen the roles of women working in San Diego’s defense industry. We aim to create a sense of community where we can share stories and mentor each other, collectively heightening the impact of women supporting all levels of national security. As well, we nurture the next generation of women through scholarships, involvement in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) events, and mentorship opportunities.
WID San Diego is comprised of more than 150 government, civilian, industry, and military members that represent more than 40 San Diego organizations.
It is an exciting time to get involved. To learn more, please contact us at admin@widsandiego.org.
